So, I just read this article and it reminded me of a situation where I had to deal with the same thing.
The gist of the article is that a landlord signed a lease with an adult tenant who was over 18 years-old and of sound mind. A month later, the tenant’s father decided that he did not like the space his daughter (the tenant) leased and called the landlord to “rescind the lease.”
One of my ex-tenants decided that she could not deal with the big, bad landlord (I’m not bad or that big) and had her mother call me to complain about something or other that was an issue at the time.

So, one year ago today Landlord-Success.com was born and I can’t believe that it’s been a year already! It has been a great and entertaining experience for me maintaining this blog what with all the great people I’ve met and some of the whack-job tenants who grace these pages. So, the last vacant rental house which I just rented to a

girlfriend/boyfriend couple was rented with the stipulation that they take care of the yard maintenance in exchange for a break on the rent.
The other day, I had cause to go over there to replace a broken screen and the yard was completely cleared of brush and all the shrubs were trimmed. I almost fell over.
The boyfriend component of the couple works for a lawn maintenance company so I assumed that it would be a good match but I had no idea that it would be this good. Read the rest of this entry »

I am writing this post for 3 reasons:
- Wells Fargo Home Mortgage sucks and they just don’t care. Their goal, it seems, is providing bad customer service along with mortgage financing. You can read more about their bad behavior in this post and this post. After I wrote the first post, I was contacted by Wells Fargo corporate as detailed in the second post. Then, I received a letter saying basically we’re allowed to behave like this as specified in the mortgage documents you signed and we’re going to continue on like this and you’re going to like it.
- In this humble little blog, the first post (above) has been a freaking magnet for disgruntled Wells Fargo Home Mortgage customers. Every week since I made that post I get at least 2 comments and they’re all bad experiences from other home owners. Any more and I may set up a separate web site for this. After reading this post over at RSS Pieces.com, it reminded me of why I really don’t like dealing with Realtors. Now, don’t get me wrong.
I know that Realtors are not all bad and I understand that they do add value to a real estate transaction when they know what they’re doing.
Personally I believe that the bar for entry into the profession is set way too low by the state. In Florida, as long as you can pass the test, you can get a license. The state department of professional business regulation makes a lame attempt to weed out the clearly mentally ill-equipped applicants by copiously littering the test with trick questions. This, however, does not limit the morally corrupt applicants.
