Lying Tenants Who Think The Landlord Is Stupid
So, we have one tenant who, in recent months, has been repeatedly late paying the rent. He does pay the late fees but the excuses that come out of this guy are completely amazing.
Apparently, the first month that he was late, there were extenuating circumstances. Something about an automatic withdrawal by a school or something. This sounds plausible but in the subsequent months the excuses include the following:
- My wife forgot to mail it.
- I’m trying to catch up from last month.
- I forgot to put a stamp on it.
And the all time best line of crap: “I addressed it to myself by mistake and I just got it back in the mail today. I’ll address it correctly now and you’ll get it tomorrow.”
I can’t wait for the “Dog ate the rent check” excuse. Maybe I should refer him to this site so he can at least amuse me.
Why do people flat-out lie instead of just saying, “I’m going to be late, you can expect the rent on this date.” Is that so hard? Is this guy just a pathological liar like these idiots?
