Here we go with the first hurricane of 2006
I was just alerted to a new hurricane-ish storm heading our way. Though it’s not the actual first hurricane named this season, it looks like this one (Ernesto) will be affecting us later this week.
Well, Ernesto passed right over us as a tropical depression yesterday. It was interesting to see all the battening down, school closing, etc. that was going on here. I guess that the death and destruction of hurricane Katrina (exactly one year ago yesterday) is still really fresh in everyone’s mind nationwide. I know that the people in and around the New Orleans area have not forgotten. In fact, things are still not even close to being back to normal there. Thanks Mr President. Instead of “taking personal responsibility”, how about DOING something about it?
Anyway, the only effects we saw here from Ernesto are that all the plants are really green and everything looks like it grew about 2 inches overnight. We are, however, not out of the woods yet for this season.
